Introduction to KWI
Founded more than 60 years ago, the KWI Group is the global leader in designing and delivering Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems for water and wastewater treatments systems for industrial and municipal applications. With more than 4,700 installations in 77 countries, KWI is renowned globally for excellence in delivering robust and cost effective solutions based on proven process designs incorporating exclusive, patented equipment and technology incorporating dissolved air flotation technology. Furthermore, KWI has the largest range of DAF clarifiers of any supplier in the world to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. Key markets include Industrial Waste Water Treatment, Biological Treatment, Process and Potable Water applications.
Headquartered in Ferlach – Austria, with more than 100 staff globally, the KWI group has its own dedicated manufacturing and product engineering center which manufactures all the equipment designed, to provide machinery of best quality sold by the KWI group of companies and its parent company, SafBon.
KWI has eleven associated offices throughout Europe, the Far East, the Middle East and the Americas as well as agents and distributors in many other countries.
Dissolved Air Flotation technology (DAF) uses the propriety of air micro-bubbles to attach to particles and lift them to the water surface. Generally, DAF installation includes two components:
It saturates water with micro air-bubbles using a pressure pump and an air dissolving device.
It separates solids from water thanks to flotation.
Specifically, there are various DAF products available for particular conditions. Sample DAF products are shown below:
Dissolved Air Flotation is considered by many to be more effective in creating cleaner effluents in a number of industries. Dissolved air flotation is very widely used in treating the industrial wastewater effluents from oil refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants, natural gas processing plants, paper mills, food processing (including those where a high proportion of oils, fats and greases are present), biological sludge thickening, potable or process water production, general water treatment and similar industrial facilities.
Food and beverages; paper; chemical and petrochemical; textile; tannery; cement, steel, plastic, etc.
Primary treatment before biological; biological sludge clarification; biological sludge thickening; tertiary treatment.
Surface water clarification; desalinization plants; algae removal.
