At the beginning of this year, Safbon undertook the DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) equipment and related supporting work in the seawater desalination pretreatment of Dubai HAYSSAN 4 x 600MW coal-fired power plant. This project uses the DAF device Minicell, which is the DAF technology designated by the client, using the KWI third generation air dissolving device ADR.
The reason why the project uses DAF is mainly because the seawater in the Middle East contains algae. According to the operating experience of the FEWA authorities over the past ten years, there are different levels of microbial contamination in the desalination plants without DAF, resulting in a decrease of the life of RO membrane.
According to the requirements of the client, the DAF team customized the DAF equipment while maintaining the original civil construction funding plan. After many comparisons, the client finally insisted on using Safbon’s KWI DAF Minicell. The structure of the Minicell tank is relatively simple, easy to install and operate, and the algae removal rate is high, the land occupation meets the site requirements, and the water distribution is uniform. At the same time, with KWI's unique core patent technology - the air dissolving device ADR, it has the characteristics of high air dissolution efficiency, short retention time, not easy to block, uniform air bubbles in the water etc. The combination of the two can achieve a perfect treatment effect.
During the project execution phase, the technical team strictly controls the quality from design, material procurement, and equipment manufacturing to ensure that the equipment can meet client requirements. In design stage, the design engineer strives for excellence in design and multi-level review and optimization of engineering design drawings; in material procurement stage, the engineer purchases high-quality anti-corrosion stainless steel from overseas, and the wet part materials are all super duplex stainless steel; in manufacturing phase, experienced field engineers from Austria are assigned to supervise the workshop to ensure that the equipment meets the quality requirements at all stages of manufacture.
